Our Story

Ali Sevindi and Haldun Turgay are Turkish natives and the owner operators of Otto Turkish & Mediterranean. After arriving in Charlottesville in 2013, they worked together at respected local establishments including Clifton Inn and Oakhurst Inn. Both are Hospitality Business School graduates who long missed the authentic flavors of Turkish cuisine.

In 2020, during the challenges of the pandemic, they opened their first location and introduced the region to traditionally prepared doner. Their recipes follow the same methods found throughout Turkey and Europe, emphasizing quality ingredients and time honored techniques.

In 2026, Otto expanded with a new location in Richmond at 414 Hull Street, bringing their distinctive Turkish and Mediterranean flavors to a wider community. Guests can enjoy their signature doner as a wrap, bowl, or sandwich, always prepared with authenticity and care.

"Authenticity and hospitality are not marketing words for us. They are the standard."
